FUNDRAISING CEILIDH FOR MOD NAN EILEAN SIAR 2011
With less than twelve months until the Royal National Mod is hosted in the Western Isles, the Mod nan Eilean Siar 2011 local Committee have organised a fundraising ceilidh and dance which will be held at the Caladh Inn in Stornoway on Saturday the 13th of November 2010. The ceilidh will begin at 7.30pm and it promises to be an excellent evening of entertainment.
Making a journey across the Minch for the event will be the newly formed Còisir Ghàidhlig an Iar Thuath who hail from the Ullapool and surrounding area, who will be performing under the baton of Lisa MacDonald. Margaret McLeman, the worthy recipient of the 2010 Ladies Traditional Gold Medal, tops the bill and this will be one of the first opportunities for islanders to hear Margaret since she returned triumphantly from the recent Caithness Mod. The line-up also includes David MacLennan, Annabel & Mairi MacLennan, Donald N Morrison, Laxdale Ladies and Còisir Sgìre a’ Bhac, who had a particularly successful Mod.
Making a journey across the Clisham to provide the music for the dance will be the ever popular Iain Angus MacLeod and his ceilidh band.
Tickets are available from An Comunn Office at a cost of £5. Alternatively payment can be made at the door on the evening. For more information contact An Comunn Gàidhealach Office on 01851 703487.
